That’s approximately $16/day [approximately 22,000 KHS after Tuesday’s GLUTTONIES] which isn’t as bad since I’ve curbed some drinks – SORTA!!! And figuring in those first SEVEN days was $192, this is a huge improvement!!!
The issues are:
1. paying bills before sending my iPhone’s screen to be fixed,
2. making sure I have a way of paying for shit should they have it for more than 24 hours
3. being able to trust whomever has it
4. having enough for other odds N ends till sending more money so I don’t have to use CCs
Why isn’t Discover working???

Plan to visit Mary in Lamu sooner rather than later – or wait till month is up and maximize money spent?
Approx. $440 since coming to Kilifi, including meals at Food Movement, Salty’s and shopping for eggs and whatnots. Just finished off the jelly two hours ago, some PB left, so that’s a thrifty buy!!
No bike, just yet. I actually haven’t left the COMpOUND in five days. I’ve been diving into Swahili on Duolingo and Pimsleurs. I’ve put it off way too long. Getting around there are moto-taxis that get me into the groceries, volunteering and visits to the beach for like between $1 – $3 each way.
I just talked to George Wambua, the Maths teacher I worked with in Linhai, and his interview with Kivukoni School went well, so he may be the one teacher hired next year? Or me? or both??? If that were to happen, I’ll rent George’s spare room. Ideal!!! We’ll see if it’s meant to be??
Abrazos to all!
Karibu, habari ya usiku, kaka? = Welcome, How is the night, brother?

To Zak:
Don’t get me wrong – two hours studying.
Pool breaks x 3
Reading the most awesome Emily Nagoski’s, Come As You Are: The Science Behind Great Sex [or something like that???]and halfway through Obama’s MASSIVE A Promised Land –
More pool breaks – Happy Hour Dawas = medicine in Swahili vodka, lime, lemon, honey, ginger beer SOOOOOOOOO fuckin refreshing on a hot day – avg here “feels like 95 degrees” no matter what the actually weather shits say!!! Cooler at the beach – Salty’s Kite Surfing Bar/Restaurant is fan-FUCKIN-tastic, though I’ve only been there once.

Grilled octopus may have given me Da Shits? Or, something from streets of Nairobi? OR that bug still living in me from southern Egypt or central Ethiopia?

I pretty much get Da Shits every 10 – 12 days. Keeping those extra pounds off!!!
