My Family and Friends Plans

I am forever grateful for the family I was born into – and those that have adopted me along the way. There are dozens on every corner of the globe who have protected me from myself, helped me to SEE better than I could ever have done NOT meeting them.

Here, old friend and former Uni mate – Andrew Marshall quotes from about “….Tribalism [as the driving] antisociety..” force. I have my Tribe Called Quest ~

I think this is one of the very best things about being part of a big family; their friends become your friends. Age becomes so much less a NUMBER after your second or third decade on the planet. When, at 10, you wouldn’t – COULDN’T – fit in nor comprehend things your 3-year-old siblings nor your teen cousins, 17 – 19, were going through. Fast forward 15 – 25 years and not only can you hang with those 10 years younger or older, you may prefer it.

Reason # 374 why I choose teaching/Mentoring: not so much “friending” kids, but having a thumb on the pulses of future generations. There’s a great deal of power and responsibities listening to, attempting to understand their issues and guiding them not simply through 15-page Research Papers, but how NOT to get a credit card upon entering college or how women think differently than men, and the importance of studying all those things and people that interest and knowing at least a little bit about those things that absolutely bore you.

It’s like cancer; just because you don’t learn about it doesn’t mean it can’t kill you. I know all those fuckin Double Negatives.

Ignorance is Bliss – it also kills millions globally.
