Travel like all well-planned ideas need support. I can’t thank all of you enough for your moral, spiritual, financial, culinary, historical, emotional and physical supports throughout these last 10 years of my Plans For the Living [P4L].
I’m blessed to have been able to be with families and friends on four continents for funerals, weddings, birthdays, bidniz ventures, classes and glasses of wine, frosty mugs of beer, cookies and banana breads, grand dinners, meditation sessions, reading critiques, the endless conversations throughout these years, biking, hiking, juping from high places, camp outs and beach bum weekends. Then, the support from afar; eaten cards in Vietnam 2007, to lost and prematurely canceled ones in Paris 2021 when again Ed and Wayne sent funds and most recent Kyle (by the way all those euros proved useless in Holland as they’ve turned contactless a year or two before Da Ronas). They were GOLDEN in Germany, where technology has somehow leap-frogged an entire nation. Still, hanging with wedding couple in Amsterdam and some old friends in Rotterdam, who refused anytime I tried to pay for anything…or took the Euros I hid in their pepper mills. (lol – kidding) Gifts of wine and babysitting so both parents could hang (not me, but grandma was also visiting), while I entertained hostess and host. Let’s not forget Jeanneth, who tried to send funds when stranded in Trinidad, Cuba 2009. All coming in handy when I finally landed in Tulum and Chitzen Itza, Mexico, five days sooner than planned, but my cards were blocked for “suspicious activity” even though I’d told bank of my travel plans. Can I just say, the day can’t come soon enough for the demise of Western Union and all similar ilk. Revolut, Wise and others in Europe are on the same scale as CashApp and perhaps Venmo, but none are international yet.

Seems no matter how “veteran” you become you’re still a novice in many respects.
So, here’s to the next 5- and 10-year plans which are part of my over all 20-year-plans outlined Spring 2001.
Even at the time of publication, perhaps my biggest fan and bestest friend, Cousin Bobby, has sent out a new CC – credit card, to be ferried to me in Kenya, via another third party. Bobby has helped immensely whenever and wherever, and I miss the BBQs and campouts and chill beach days with him and Lehua and families. All are missed more than ever.

Feeling like I’m on your shoulder. Reminds me of the elephant orphanage in Sri Lanka!
